WALTER CAPRON was a forgeman, and settled in Groton, near New London, Conn. The information I have obtained about him and his family is by a letter from Giles Capron, one of his sons, which is as follows:-
"Walter Capron, deceased, lived to the age of eighty-four years. He died possessed of a good farm in Groton. Had two wives; by the first he had seven children, - three sons and four daughters. Their names were Samuel, Elkanah, William, Elizabeth, Alice, Sylvia, and Sibbel. They all lived to be old people, and were all married, except Elkanah, who died young. Samuel was lost at sea; he left a wife and one child.
"The children by his second wife were named Jared, Giles, .Simeon, and Hope. The oldest is dead, the rest are living in the town of Preston. My sister is seventy years old, and in good circumstances. My age is sixty-six, and I am possessed of a good farm. Simeon is an infirm man, and in low circumstances.
"The grandchildren of the said Walter are numerous, - how many I cannot tell. The number of my grandchildren is forty four.

Walter COOKE received four acres "in the Westerneck" at Weymouth which had first been granted to Thomas "Baylie;" also an acre "upon Round Iland" first granted to Thomas HOLBROOK. He received five acres in the First Division and fifteen acres in the Second Division, 14 Dec 1663. Walter COOKE of Weymouth was admitted freeman of the colony, 18 May 1653. How much earlier he came to New England is a matter of conjecture. He was one of twenty-three men from Braintree and from Weymouth who accepted of allotments in Mendon in 1662 and agreed to settle thereon before 30 Sep 1663. He was a member of the committee to build the minister's house at Mendon, 2 Feb 1669. He was Selectman in Mendon in 1671.
Walter COOKE of Mendon, being weak of body made his will 18 Jan 1694-95; proved 5 Jan 1697-98. To his wife Catherine the use of his estate. John, "being his eldest son," to have the great Bible and ten acres; son Nicholas to have ten acres. Unto his children Hannah, Samuel, Nicholas and Experience, besides what he formerly gave them the reversion of his moveables after his wife's decease. Son John COOKE, sole executor, to whom administration was granted, 6 Jan 1697-98.

Was her father John and mother Leonora? Naming of the children don't fit the Townsend side. There was a Cloe Parker, age 15, enumerated in the Josiah Townsend household in the 1850 census. Perhaps she was a relative of Dolly. Perhaps the daughter of Leonora TOWNSEND PARKER.

When Governor Hunton was a young man, he studied law in the office of Samuel P. Glidden, the first lawyer who established himself in the beautiful town of Readfield. In due course of time Jonathan succeeded to the business of his uncle, and upon his death married his widow. At the time of his nomination he was a member of the Executive Council. He was elected Governor of Maine in 1830 by the National Republican party, and came into office during the political excitement growing out of the previous campaign when Jackson was elected over Adams. | Huntoon, Jonathan Glidden (I40935)

When his inventory was taken on 20 July 1662, Elias was "supposed to be deceased," suggesting that he had not returned from a sea voyage, and had probably died some time before that date. The inventory totalled ¹34 5s., including ¹19 10s. in real estate: "the dwelling house being very much decayed and ready to fall," ¹12; "corner of ground in the orchard," ¹7; and "a piece of ground without a house," ¹2 10s. Also in his inventory were "three old swords almost spoiled with rust, 3s." | Parkman, Elias (I17050)

When John Farrington of Dedham arrived in New England or was born is not certain, but he was in Dedham, Mass in 1646 when he purchased land there. He could possibly be a son of John Farrington that came to Barbados about 1627. There was a John Farrington of age in Lynn, 1640. There was also a John Farrington in Boston of age in 1639. It is not likely he is the son of Edmund Farrington of Lynn, although he could be a cousin or perhaps nephew. (Edmund's son John was born 1624 - much too late and separate marriage records exist for that John Farrington who died before 1666.)
John Farrington was a townsman of Dedham, Mass. when on 1 Nov 1646 he and Richard Wheeler were granted two acres of land. In 1648 they purchased eight acres. He was appointed woodreeve in 1654 and 1657, and to view fences in Purgatory Playne in 1658. In 1660 he was one of the men selected to lay out the way between Dorchester and Dedham.
