- Although John and Mary are Lewis' only known children, it seems likely there were more born earlier. In and around the WNY area are a number of Lewis Evans. It would seem logical that an elder son might have been named Lewis after the father. Update: Found Lewis Evans, age 45 in 1850 Census living in household of sister and brother-in-law.
