    • "I, John Morse, of Boston in New England, being of perfect health blessed & praised be God and now undertaking by the providence of God a voyage for England being not without much hazard & although I doe carry a considerable part of my Estate to venture at sea with myself, yet I think it my duti?? to take care of my wife & children as it hath pleased God to bless me with any Estate. Therefore now this Eighteenth day of december Anno 1655, I the said John Morse doe declare this my minde and will as followeth. Imprimis I resign up myselfe, body & spirit into the hands of him that gave it knowing there alone is safety. Item. my minde & will is to give unto my beloved wife, Annas, forty pounds, the rest of my Estate I comitt into the hands of Executors to be equalie devided to my Children yt is to say to my daughter Ruth my Sonne John, Joseph, Ezrah Abigail Ephraim & Bathiah and Nathaniel each of them to have a like portion & not one to have more than another because the Elder of them are brought up, further my minde is that if my Executor shall sec cause therefore they shall pay to my daughter Ruth hir proportion as aforesaid one year after my decease ye rest of my childrens proportion within one year after my decease according to an equall division as aforesaid my minde is it to be payd them at theire severall ages of one and twentie yeares. And my minde is that all my Estate, vizt; houses Lands Cattle goods bills with what else I have shall remaine in ye hands of my beloved wife until ye children come of age as aforesaid, towards their bringing up, ye youngest of them, & to whom ye care & charge of my Children for Learning, Education I wholly Comitt further my will & minde is that in case by Gods providence my Estate I carry with me may be preserved yt then my wife shall have ye use of that, as to the rest of my said Estate, the said forty pounds to my wife, I give twentie pounds thereof to hir & hir heires for ever the other ¶20. I give to my Children after hir decease to be equally divided. And in case any dye before they come to the age of one & twentic yeares my minde & will is theire portion be devided among ye rest surviving, alwayes provided my debts be satisfied further I doe constitute & appointe my beloved brother and friend Francis Chickering with my beloved wife Annas Executors of this my Last will & testament & all other former wills gifts & bequests I utterly revoake & make voyd by these presents.

      This will was carried to Probate, June 18, 1657.
