- Nicholas was in Dedham in 1640 and a freeman in 1666. Nicholas married Jane Adams (1st) who died in 1654. He married (2nd) Margaret Holbrook. He married (3rd) Silence (Bowers) Dunthing (Duncklee?). Two children by first wife, four children (1657-1665) by second wife (Margaret) and one by third. Nicholas Rockwood was the son of Richard of Braintree. He removed to Medfield about 1650. His house lot was on Bridge Street. He was burned out by the Indians in 1676. The house was rebuilt, and it was deeded to his son-in-law, John Partridge. Nicholas, in 1678, exchanged land on the east side for a grant west of the river; and it is probable that after the death of his third wife he lived with one of his sons on the west side. The estate of Nicholas included no houses. He died in 1680, This name is often spelled ROCKET in the old records. !History of Medfield, Tilden:471-2
