      SETTLERS IN 1858
"R. D. Jacox, who bought of Johnathan Green the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4, Sec. 29, lived here about 8 years. Mrs. Jacox could graft fruit trees successfully and they had a better grade of peaches here than anyone else. If a few peaches were bought to eat, the pits were planted and the trees bore a fruit of inferior grade. They dried these peaches and in those days they thought them better than not any. In 1867 they sold to Lambert Troost, who owned it in 1870."

      SETTLERS IN 1867

SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 3 AT FOREST GROVE
"This school house was built here (SE corner of the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Sec. 29) without the district buying the lot. John Prescott owned it at the time and he was perfectly willing that it should be there.

He sold to Lewis Hunt and Lewis Hunt sold to Johnathan Green and Johnathan Green sold to R. D. Jacox, who began to make trouble. To settle this trouble Henry H. Park bought the lot of Mr. Jacox and allowed the district to keep possession. He owned it about six years. When this school house burned, in the winter of 1864-65, Mr. Park sold the lot Mr. Jacox who then owned the entire 40 acres."

"... They decided to build the new school house on the SE corner of the SE 1/4 of Sec. 20."
