Came to Chautauqua County from Aurora, Erie Co. in 1836. Came to a farm in Ellery 1838. His father, Josiah, a native of New London Co., removed to Otsego Co., then to Yates Co. Charles the youngest of 18 children. Charles the 11th child of his mother.
