County Line.
The funeral services of another pioneer, Mr. John Evans, occurred on Thursday of last week, at his old home in Somerset, on the Quaker road; deceased was over eighty years of age and leaves a wife and son to mourn the loss. The father of Prof. Evans of Lockport Union School was of the same name and also lived in Somerset but they are not related" Wednesday, 26 March, 1890, p.8, col.4

NOTE: Madison County was probably intended.
But by 1854, they had actually already removed to Niagara County. Probably in 1848, as in 1855 the NY state census indicates John had been there (Niagara county), seven years. Ellen was the first child born to the family in Niagara County in 1849.
About the year 1850, the area of Sullivan had a higher immigrant population from Wales, Ireland and Germany than the entire population of the rest of the county.
