    • 1664: Thomas Cushman, son of Thomas, was ordered to pay ¹5 for carnal copulation with Ruth Howland, the daughter of Mayflower passengers, John and Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland, whom he later married. The court observed in this case the sin had occurred before marriage, but after contract. It would seem an unusually long contract. The child, Robert was born October 4, 1664. Counting back nine months, the "carnal copulation" sin would have occurred in January 1663/64, but the marriage did not take place until November 17, 1664.
