- Kent Co death record lists Carl's father as Hans Hansen. db 11/94 Carl Hansson first immigrated to the USA about 1870. He worked in Chicago to earn enough money to bring his family over from Sweden. Carl Hansson lived in Chicago at the time of the Great Fire (1871) and lost everything. He then returned to Sweden, married again. His wife died. In the meantime, his children had immigrated to the USA His children got him to return to the US again, but not until about 1900.
