Notes |
- John was 17 when he and his parents moved to Livingston Co., NY, settling in the Sparta area. John is ennumerated in the 1820 census in Sparta, Livingston Co., NY while brother Samuel is in neighboring Groveland Twp.
After marriage he continued to work a tract of his father's land until 1832 when he moved with his wife and children to MI, first settling in Saline, Washtenaw Co. in 1833 on 320 acres of land. It appears that the family may have lived for a time in PA before settling in MI where he is listed there on the 1840 MI census. It is known that they had 10 children.
