- Clement Bates, age 40, arrived on the "Elizabeth" in mid-1635 with his wife Ann, age 40, two servants, John Wynchester, age 19, and Jarvice Gold, age 30, and his five children, James, age 14,Clement age 12, Rachell, age 8, Joseph, age 5, and Benjamin, age 2. A tailor from Lydd, Kent, he settled in Hingham, Massachusetts, where five acres were granted to him. He was a brother of James Bate of Dorchester.
