- Thomas DANFORTH was representative from Cambridge in the General Court, 1657-58, assistant, 1659-79, deputy Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, 28 May 1679 to May 1686, president of the Province of Maine during the same period, and associate justice of the Superior Court of the Province of Massachusetts Bay from 1692 until his death. He strongly opposed the infamous proceedings against alleged witches. He was also president of the Board of Commissioners for the United Colonies, and from 1650-1669 was treasurer of Harvard College, to which he made bequests. !NEHGR 75:144
