- JOANNA SCOTT married Judge Daniel Jenks, son of Elder Ebenezer Jenks. They first settled in Smithfield, but soon moved to Providence, where they resided till their deaths. He accumulated a very great interest, principally by trading at sea, being very fortunate. It was said that at one time be traded as much at sea as all the other people in Providence. History says he was a member of the Baptist Church in Providence forty-eight years; a member of the General Assembly forty years, and Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas about thirty years. He had only one son, who was a man of superior abilities.
