    • ||Jane lived with her daughter Esther Culp, in Grand Rapids, the last years of her life. It appears that she moved to Grand Rapids about 1924 and lived at 22 Canton SW (1925-1926); 24 Canton SW (1927); 15 Canton SW (1928); 25 LaBelle SW (1929); and 36 Labelle SW in 1931.

      It is interesting to note that William C. Bryant lived at 24 Canton SW in 1926, at the same time in the same house as his third wife's grandmother and aunt. William was married to his fourth wife at that time.

    • According to Verl Meredith, his grandmother Jane Darling lived to be about 102 years old. This is an error as Jane's daughter claimed reimbursement for burial and death expenses on November 24, 1931.

      Obituary (Grand Rapids Press - March 3, 1931)
      Mrs. Frances Darling, aged 88 passed away March 2, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Esther Culp, 36 LaBelle SW. The body was removed to Greenhoe's Home for Funerals. Services will be held in the chapel Tuesday night at 8 o'clock. Burial at Cass City, MI.

      Death Record: March 2, 1931, age 88 years, 9 months, 24 days; died in Grand Rapids; arteriosclerosis; b. New York; father, John Ball, b. England; mother, Caroline Horn, b. New York.

    Notes 
    • Jane Ball is listed as the mother of Sarah (Harrison) Meredith on Sarah's death record. The Harrison children in 1880 are listed as children of Francis Playford. Her marriage record found in Branch County confirms her name is Francis Jane Ball.

      In the 1900 census, Jane indicates she is the mother of seven children and seven are alive in 1900.
