- A portion of Sabin's early life was passed in Maine, while engaged in the lumbering business. He then established himself in Boston, MA, a member of the business firm of Peters & Pond, and for many years, was a respected and thriving merchant of that city. During the War of 1812, he lost a vessel and cargo by French spoilation. He subsequently moved to Ellsworth, ME. !Daniel POND & His Descendants, p.96
