- John Bigelow was a housewright; settled in Hartford, CT, prior to 1699, in which year his land was taxed. His will, dated 1707, after providing for his widow (he had no children), conveyed his real estate to his wife's nephew, Jonathan Butler, and the farm has remained with the Butler family to this day (1860). Some of Mr. Bigelow's relatives attempted ineffectually to break this will. - Bond
